Spice, Slice and Stripes


This set of kitchen furniture was designed by Fiona Campbell Furniture for, and with a local customer. They wanted a versatile kitchen island that would allow different types of storage and act as a kitchen table for eating suppers. It was to become the hub of the kitchen. The walnut strips flow through the stools, handles and top giving continuity. It is set on four castors so that it can be wheeled in and out of the kitchen. This piece was a joy to make.

Island - Key Features :

Solid oak, solid walnut and oak veneered boards.
Spice racks
Two large drawers
Flap down bread drawer
Removable shelving
Matching stools that slot into the unit
Two hidden cupboards
Flap up surface for eating.
Shadow gap on top and stools

This island has over 100 joints and required four people to lift it.

Matching Stools

These stools were designed to match the oak and walnut kitchen island. The pair slide easily into each end of the unit.
